I think JCP does it right -- ordered for pickup, didn't get a chance to get down to the store (a good half hour south of me), and they simply refunded my money when I didn't pick it up by a certain date. They win, I get my money back, not that difficult.
For the people saying it's like ordering a pizza, please. It's not like they ordered a custom item and then decided they didn't want it; Sears can sell the item again to someone else.
First sensible post in the thread. I guess OP just got bombarded by "DUMBER" people. He meant no ill for anybody and just probably wanted to contrast JCP/WM etc with Sears. JCP and WM don't charge unless you pick up. Sears charged him regardless.
Thank you. I was looking for an answer to this exact question. My situation was that I ordered online for in-store pickup (to get cashback), but when I got there, they didn't have my order in their system (of course). As the item was in stock, I decided to purchase it off the shelf, as I needed it that day. I wasn't sure if I didn't pick up the order if I would be charged or not (as a previous experience with Kmart, they never charged me unless I picked it up). Clearly now I need to cancel the online order, or I get charged for that as well. Thanks for the thread. TU
