You're looking at the Gold card
It is confusing, because the GOLD card is just below this application, but the $175/year waived is for the business gold, not the platinumPlatinum is $450/year, and it's not waived. For some users, it's worth it, but pretty much only if you travel extensively and want the travel credit and lounge benefits.

Yes - if you check out the 'flyer talk' forum, it actually costs around $200+ a year since you get $200 in travel claims back (seldom denied). And if you do fly at least once a month, its definitely worth it. No foreign fees either however AMEX is not well accepted overseas.

It's $450 and not waived at all.. I've had it for 4 years [ business purchases so the $450 was.. umm.. yeah worth it  ] and just got offered the Centurion which is ridiculous unless you just want bragging rights!! Either way, for personal use, I think even $175 is a waste unless you're really milking the points program! Best SD deals yet..
