We all know what were talking about so thats why were here wasting our lives away.. How did you spend your life? Worrying what Bob said online half way across the country in his double wide trailer? Haha.. Maybe Bob works at the local Speedway and thanks you for filling up on pump 12 and is a total failure in life.. So he goes online to talk about this or that? Who cares...

Thats just crazy talk.. I WAS a plasma buff for many years. Owned many plasma tvs and Never have I seen such a better picture than a LCD to LED technology. Thats a truely painful statement coming from a guy that has owned Panasonic's best 4500.00 set.. I decided to sell my THX certified plasmas because they had a constant loss of contrast because they consistently lose brightness.. Just the nature of plasmas tvs. What you buy today is NOT what you have in 2-3 years.. But a picture that is 30-40% less bright.. FACT ! Plus the image retention was horrible. Plus I noticed a nice drop on the electric bill after I traded my Plasmas for LEDs...
I just bought a NX series Sony 55" 3D 240hz for 1070.00 and I bought a Ex series Sony 60" 3D set for 1348.. Both brand new.. Both LEDs.. and I must say factory defaults look outstanding and calibrated they look amazing. I still catch myself after 2 months with watch either set being amazed at how great the picture quality is. BluRays are just amazing and never looked that good on my latest 2010 plasmas..
This is an honest review of a guy that has owned many HDTVs.. LED all the way.. Never going back!
The ramblings of a madman. Keep your crap LED's and continue to live off of 5 year old reviews. More plasma's for the rest of us.
The ST50 handily outperforms its predecessor, with deeper blacks, more accurate color, and an improved bright-room image. The picture is so good, in fact, that it scored the same as the flagship VT30 I lauded last year, and in person it's tough to tell the two apart. If anything, the ST50 looks better. It sets a lofty standard for HDTV picture quality this year, and one I feel confident only a few TVs will approach. I doubt any of them will do it for less money.
Look let me clarify myself. I'm not saying this isn't a good deal, because it is a good deal. I just want to inform all those people that are thinking of jumping on the deal of alternative choices that might change their decision if they can wait or have the budget. I personally would be glad to have someone tell me whether there are other options out there before I plop down almost 2 grand.
that would lead me to believe that this years top line VT50 will be a lot better than last years VT30
These things get better and less expensive( and thinner and lighter and more energy efficient) each year...no surprises there at all
The salesman at Magnolia told me that this years VT50 will have a significantly smaller bezel,..ie...more screen in a smaller space....and a much more advanced app, features platform than this years VT30....more similar to the high end Samsungs
Thanks OP, mine arrived this morning. This is actually the second one as the first had a cracked screen (sure glad i had the delivery guys unbox it!). Amazon sent a second one right away, no complaints there.
The picture is simply breathtaking. I bought this to watch movies so I really wanted correct colors, excellent blacks and good shadow detail. Some enjoy the brightness and ultra saturated colors that LCD tv's provide but I want it to look natural. This TV delivers. Right out of the box (yes, ill calibrate properly later) the skin tones are already bang on, colors are vibrant (but not overdone), blacks are inky and the brightness seems just fine to me...ill be putting this in a very dark windowless room so this isn't an issue, but it looked fine in my bright living room too.
Oh and ignore neoison ... this guy is a well known plasma troll. I hope he finds joy in his life at some point. As far as joy is concerned, this TV sure is bringing me some!
