Do you support the death penalty for serial child rapist murderers?

TRNT has started a thread about CT allowing the death penalty. Think of this as a sister thread with a poll. I believe the majority support the death penalty for the worst offenders. I wonder what the feeling is here on the podium. For the sake of the example we are talking about someone like Westley Allen Dodd.

What is the goal?

If the goal is to permanently remove them from society, then there are other ways to do that don't put the state in charge of doing something that they can never be undone.

If the goal is revenge and/or retribution then there are also other ways to accomplish that which don't let the baddies off as easy as a quick ending, when their victims were often not given the same consideration:

Why yes, yes I do.....providing there is ample credible evidence against that person.

The poll is not accurate enough for me to participate.
It's not that I don't believe these people should die, it's that I don't trust the government with the power to say who dies, nor do I trust them to execute only the truly guilty.

Kill them.

I am serious. I'm tired of paying high taxes to support these people. It's taxpayer abuse.

I thought that was the jury's decision? Atleast it was when I was on the jury for a capital murder case.

2. Is that rape and murder or rape or murder?

3. What defines "serial"? 3 or more?

4. Are you suggesting to write the law so it only allows execution of those who serially rape and murder children?

Like I said feel free to add additional burden requirements for the law. Like "Not mentally ill and checked out by a psychiatric board and determined to be incapable of rehabilitation." To be totally specific. Is there any condition you can imagine where the correct punishment ought to be death?

Is air tight stronger olow eager than beyond a reasonable doubt? Is it like beyond any doubt?
