Emerson 39" 1080 LCD HDTV $328.00 Walmart B&M

i have been trying to decide what new lcd to get and i was just out to walmart and i seen this and i liked the picture, seemed crisp and bright and had a fair price on it.

not sure what the milliseconds are on this tv? and it looks like it doesnt have the 178-degree vertical and 178-degree horizontal angles to view a clear picture from anywhere in the room like a lot of the other newer tv's.

but all in all i am thinking about getting it, mostly because it was there so i could view it but i did find a few other tv's i would like to see but my walmart doesnt carry them.

I purchased the sceptre and I will be picking it up later this week. I chose the lowest price with mostly good reviews. Walmart has a good return policy so if I dont like it I can take it back. That emerson is not cheap enough for me. I paid this price for the sceptre including tax and the 3 year warranty. The 40" insignia TV that I already have has been $329 twice in the last 2 weeks. The ONLY reason I am taking it back is because I couldnt get a price match over the phone. It cost me over $20 to go back to the store.

i ended up with the Emerson mostly cause my Wally world had it in stock so i could actually see what the picture looked like & i knew what i was getting.

i was able to get my old Sony hauled out a few days ago (36" Sony WEGA) it partially died in a lightning strike a few years ago and the color was gone (now black & orangish and dark tint) and also weighed almost 400lbs. i wish repairmen still made house calls as it would have been a couple hundred bucks to replace some module inside. it had a fantastic picture but no way to haul it around and then carry it back in.

so its very weird watching shows/movies in color again and not used to the brightness of the screen. took a little bit of messing in the menu to get it set the way i like but its ready for many years of use (i hope). the sound isn't to bad and i probably wont worry about getting a sound bar or anything but will see?

i paid a total of about $392 for the tv, 2yr extended warranty and tax. and i see from the website its still on sale for $328 and my luck it will probably drop more?

some channels look a LOT sharper then others so i would guess that has something to do with HD?

i am happy i can clearly see the picture when im at my computer desk as they are both against the same wall. i was looking for a TV with the 178-degree vertical and 178-degree horizontal angles but wasn't to worried since i had an old stand that swivels but glad this one has that feature.

one thing i didn't like but wasn't a huge problem is the port for attaching a coax cable, my fat fingers couldn't get behind to spin the fitting so had to grip only half as the port was pointed out the side on the back of TV. made that way for wall mounting im sure.

another thing i don't like, in fact i hate a LOT and its with most all TV's is the shiny black frame. why cant it be a dull black with a rough surface to help hide fingerprints and smudges? it is the dumbest damn thing i have ever seen and just cant figure out why they would do it?

i haven't tried it yet but the PC feature of viewing pictures and .AVI movies is going to be way cool. i really wish it could view .PDF files so that way i could read some e-books on my TV.

oh boy, another thing i don't like is the remote for this TV, all the buttons are square and flat and i cant get a feel where certain ones are without looking. at least with other remotes such as my TiVo i can just feel and know what button is what by the contour or little knub some have sticking up.

with so many things i don't like, why the hell did i buy this TV? LOL well, i can outweigh the good over the bad and just get used to things.

so overall its a good TV but its my first LCD so im not very experienced but i am VERY anal when it comes to details so for now, i like the picture and quality so it will get the job done for now. and in several years when this thing dies im sure LED's will be cheaper or something better has been invented by then?

i would recommend this to anyone looking and if i end up having problems i will report back and also hope its still under warranty. (3 years)

does anyone know if this TV has a QAM tuner?

Saw this TV at this price the other day, not too bad of a deal for an everyday price. My local Walmart had an open box one for $295, but I'm not sure it would be worth saving $33 to get an open box TV.
