The boxed CD version is slightly cheaper $38.99 ($35+$3.99), sold by a third party seller. And it also qualifies for $25 off with a Quicken bundle here [amazon.com]

Here are some things I found. Haven't tried them all. didn't come up with these myself, just posting them up as a service to others.
1. supposedly free federal and state filing (not preparing, just filing) if you make under 57K: H&R+Walmart Link [thebeehive.org] 2. link to OP's $40 Fed+FedFile+State (no StateFile): amazon [amazon.com] 3. TaxAct Fed+FedFile+State+StateFile for $8, says deadline passed but supposedly still good: taxact 4. H&R Home Fed+FedFile+State, maybe StateFile too, $22: google offer [google.com] After seven years of SD, I've come to conclude that Slickdealers are protein-powder guzzling, pistol packing, cheap-ass video game nerds.

i started filing online already but just came across this cheaper deal. Does anyone know if I can transfer my information that I already submitted online to the software version? I don't feel like entering everything again if I buy the software, thanks in advance.

I paid $9.95 for both Federal and State using Freetaxusa.com last year. Same deal this year (you only pay for the State E-file)

man it costs that much? Used the free weekend for android tablets and got free state file and deluxe version. Guess that was a nice deal
