Can someone explain the recent flood of lower speed proccesors with these laptop deals(1.65 GHz in this case) @ $330 wouldnt you expect at least 2 GHz? Is GHz measurment in proccesors not really important anymore?

Yes.... and no. For the average bear this would work fine. Processors are at a point where "they are fast enough" for the average person, them throwing GPU's onto these processors also speed them up.

I personally would not buy this one, but I am not an "average" user.

Can somebody please comment on the processor? How does the AMD Dual-Core E-450 compare against an Intel i3 ?

A local bestbuy has a Dell i3 on clearance for $380.

When it comes to laptops, there are no 'average', above 'average, or below 'average'. This is not a class where you could justify with that word. There are artists, engineers, architects, and so on, it also it depends on the preference. Just stating 'average', it's like you're just speaking for them, but you clearly don't know and can't assume. You have to be specific, what is average, what is your defintion of average?

It does not even begin to compare.
The E-450 is a Netbook processor.

AMD has the LLANO A4 which is the normal processor, but even that would be about 1/2 as powerful as an I3.

$330 is way over priced.

You can easily get a B9xx or A4 for this price point and maybe even an i3.

Let me just FYI you, I hate that people disgard AMD's, just because of what? 'low' processor? and just because Intel has a 'high' processor. This is just bullshit, AMD and Intel are different processor. You know how? AMD have cooler processors, while Intel processor generate heat. For example, my brother has a MacBook Pro 15 Intel Core i5 Processor, and let me tell you, it's no different than the Intel Pentium procesors. I had an Acer laptop that had an Intel Pentium and it wasn't even that high of a processor, but it generated heat. However, right now, I have Lenovo B575 AMD E-350 1.6 Ghz Processor, and it actually generates cool pressure.

You can't compare AMD v. Intel processors because they have different uses; so who cares if AMD aren't 'power' proccesors, and this is where the begineers and the experienced giveway. Now, I'm not saying I favor AMD over Intel; its just that I hate when people disgard a laptop just because of a different processor brand. Engineers, designers, and other workers who had to do the hardwork and the effort just so you don't have to.

The only reason why people shop for processors is because people are going to use it such as Gaming, software, and other reasonable choices when choosing a processor. If you don't have a reason on using it, than why bother trying to compare to other processors when you don't have a reason for it; it's not going to be long-term and why bother with the headache.

I am not disregarding it, just comparing it against another laptop that is $50 more but with (likely) an entry-level i3. It seems like the Dell with the Intel is a better value. Unfortunately, the prices are so all over the place that you can't make out anything about why one is priced lesser/higher.

You have to give it to HP/Dell/others that include the processor specification, when 99.9% of folks can't make a sense of it.

If you are to use your laptop for streaming movies, tv shows, what type of proc. amd/intel - ram is required and how fast does your download/upload speed have to be so there will not be any gliches/freezes ect.

I would keep lookng, get a laptop with an i5 and I would suggest NOT gettting an HP. Just MHO
