How does this compare to Advantage or K9? Any reviews anywhere? I bought a pack last week, but haven't opened it yet.

The product is so new it'll take folks a month or longer to find out how well it works.

It is cheaper though and it does provide both flea AND tick protection. A lot of brands only provide flea protection and ones that provide both are extremely expensive.

Just use frontline plus...buy the biggest size and then use a syringe to use only the right dose.

I use xlarge dog and use one large dose for 8 small doses for cats.

Google it.

It works out to $1 a dose for my cats

I do the same thing, but I go even cheaper with PetArmor, which is a generic of Frontline (boxes even look the same), available at Sam's Club for cheap. Each dose for a large dog gets me almost 3 doses for my little mutt.

You need to be very careful using dog products on cats or you can end up with a dead cat.
I think you are ok with frontline but just an FYI for any others reading this.

Thanks. This will be the first year our 11yo labbie will receive flea/tick prevention. We have woods in our backyard, and have never seen a tick...already at 2 for this season. Not cool. Not cool at all.

Kirkland active ingredients are
Etofenprox 30%
(S)-methoprene 3.6%
Piperonyl Butoxide 5% (not good for pregnant or nursing women)

Its appears to be the exact ingredients in bio spot defense.

Etofenprox is a Pyrethroids that "starts" to kill insects in about 15 minutes vs frontline that says Kills "within" 18 hours.

Pyrethroids are more effective against ticks, perhaps less effective on fleas. I use "permethrin" (a pyrethroids and the ingrediant in k9 advantex2) on my pants to keep ticks off me.

Biosport for cats has a lot of complaints and some reports of skin and neuroloic reactions.

I would keep using frontline plus for cats, typically .02ml/lbs so a 10lb cat only needs .2ml so a 3 pack of extra large dog (12ml) would yield you about 60 dosage for 10lb Cat. Keep in mind only the medicine that contacts the skin is effective so the stuff on the fur is wasted. The official dosage is .5ml for all size cats, I typically found it to be a waste and a mess, but it's your call. More active cats metabolise it faster and thus need more.

I picked up a box of Kirland and will try them on my dogs in a week or so and post back a comparison with Froline plus

I'd like to know too. I bought a pack yesterday but haven't opened it either. Frontline doesn't seem to work anymore. I bought Advantage 2 and it does work. Wondering if I should keep the Kirkland and try it or take it back.

I tried this on our 6 month old Spanish Waterdog, she has had 3 ticks since applying about a week ago. I think Frontline worked better on our Husky, but its not waterproof. I have been told that Advantix is waterproof, so we will try that next.

I bought and applied the Kirkland Flea and Tick over a week ago for my spaniel. I haven't used any other product because I've only had her a few months. I just found my first tick above her eye. Removed the tick and retreated (packaging say's its ok.) I bought the Costco brand because it was so cheap compared to Frontline. We'll keep checking her for ticks. I don't live in a heavily wooded area.
