My best friend just lost her Android based phone. She actually thinks she left it at a retail store and now that it's closed she can't get a hold of anyone because no one is answering the phone. Is there any way to GPS it? She said her location is enabled and we have said forever we need to put each other on the capability of finding one another's phone but here we are and should of, would of, could of. Does anyone know if it's possible to locate her phone? Even some sort of generalized location based on where she was today.
you can try google latitude, but unless you have that or some other app turned on, then it would be no on the GPS - you might still be able to get a general area location if you can reach the cell phone company and find out what tower it was last connected to, but I don't know if they give that information away or even have it available in real-time
if all else fails
"U.S. wireless carriers representing 90 percent of subscribers will on Tuesday announce the creation of a database of unique cell phone IDs to help prevent theft and reactivation of stolen or lost devices, which often contain sensitive personal data."
I have Seekdroid on my phone for this type of reason. https://play.google.com/store/app....seekdroid However all these apps pretty much require you to set them up the first time before you use them. So I am not sure how helpful this will be at this point. Hopefully she can go in first thing this AM and get it from them.
