Landing the Job When You Do Not Necessarily Meet the Experience
I am graduating in May of this year with a Pharmacy Doctorate and I want a career in pharmacy informatics. One of my friend's husband told me about a local job in that field affiliated with a larger healthcare system. From the impression she gave me, they have been looking for someone to fill that position for a period of time with no luck.
However, their official job posting is looking for someone with a Pharmacy Doctorate who would like to work with programming and with 2-4 years experience in hospital setting.
I don't have that requisite hospital experience they are seeking, but I have been web programming since I was 15. So my question is, has anyone ever landed a job when they do not necessarily meet the experience requirements but based on the interview, the willingness of learn, and the aptitude to learn? And if so, any tips?
