I recall when membership used to be free and you could get free popcorn vouchers every Wed just by showing your MovieWatcher card. Then AMC got greedy and started charging for membership and stopped giving out free popcorn, replacing it with free upsizing only. I used to get a great deal from them every Wed with their $6 early bird ticket price, stacking with the free large drink coupons that could be printed ad infinitum with new expiration dates.

To add on to this, try joining Savingscircle.com. First month is free and you can purchase fandango (or amc silver experience if you prefer) tickets for $5 each...up to 6 per month. I love the Fandango because, for whatever reason, I get 3D and/or IMAX for $5 (no upcharge). Plus I have stubs so the fee is waived. Bought 6 tickets to the IMAX 3D Hunger Games for my daughter's bday for $30...then the theater filled up. Went to the desk, traded in my 3D IMAX tickets for regular (non-sold out tickets) and the guy refunded me $30...love taking a family of 6 to the movies for free.
Savingscircle has a number of other perks that make it worthwhile ($25 gift cards for $20, coupons and other things) but the movie tickets are my favorite part of it. |

The coupon is up on AMC's website, without additional concession purchase required.
http://www.amctheatres ETA: the Facebook coupon [facebook.com] no longer requires additional purchase, either.
