$199 in san jose, ca. After reading the reviews, sounds like it will rust quickly. I'll pass on this one.

If you're gonna grab this, you can purchase a 10% off coupon on eBay or get it free at the post office when you request for a change of address (coupon is included with forms).

I purchased this one last year. It works well and cooks nicely. Unfortunately, it does rust very easily. It had started to rust within one month of purchasing it (around the bolts). The rust has gotten worse, despite using a cover since then. I have the side-fire box but haven't used it yet as a smoker, so I can't vouch for that.

For $200, I would buy this combo gas/charcoal grill again. I would probably not do it for the full $300 price, though.

Get a cover immediately if you buy this grill!

Great idea, poor performance. This grill is nothing more than a giant rust bucket. Save your money and buy something else or from someone else. Char-Griller was very uncooperative when mine rusted out inside the warranty period.

I've had a similar char-griller for a couple of years and it's barely had any rust issues (I live in the Northeast, so weather is definitely a factor lol). Keep up with it, clean any rusty spots and hit w/ high temp paint and you should be ok.

For those who comment on rust:
1. covers are cheap (I think I got mine for $35 on sale).
2. Don't exceed 450 degrees or so or you'll burn off the paint which will leave it unprotected.
3. Season the grill as described in this link [cooking-outdoors.com]

I've had mine for a year now, it's kept outside 100% of the time (including in WI winter) and I have had no rust.

I love the grill (although I'm thinking of moving to a larger charcoal grill so I can cook more than 4 whole chickens at a time!).

Its cast iron. I have had mine for 3 years. Got a LOT of use the first 2, until I got a GBE. Now it gets light use.

Keep it covered when not in use!!

STOP THE RUST!

Take it out in the middle of your yard beginning and end of season.

Get a squire bottle with some veg oil in it.

Light the gas side. Light the coal side.

Get that f-er real hot.

Spray the outside completely.

Turn off gas side.

Remove coals to safe area.

Spray inside.

Turn back on gas to a med temp. Put back in coals. Burn for about 30-45 mins.

It will NEVER rust.

Like a cast iron pan, seasoning is the key.

If that's too much work, get a stainless you can replace it every year. Ha.

This is a great grill! I have the side smoker box for smoking, makes some REALLY good ribs. Lost of space for a big BBQ.

I have this grill. I have received nothing but complements on it. I bought this from Lowes several years ago. Got the grill sidebox and cover all on sale and used the post office movers coupon. I also live in the northeast in Central NY and we average 115" of snow per season and this grill sits outside all year around. The cover is on 80-90% of the time. Shows very little signs of rust. This thing works flawless. I have had many BBQ's with family and friends and never had a bad outing. I love being able to have the ability to cook on gas, charcoal or smoke the food all from one grill. This thing both looks and performs great. Just my thoughts. Hope whoever buys this enjoys it as much as our family has.

If you can, hold out for when they have free truck delivery on this item. Then, on the same order, buy some Stubbs charcoal to come along for the ride.

We bought this grill for $199 a while back and I saw it started to rust around the bolts as well so I went to Walmart and bought the HIGH HEAT black spray (not sure what exactly it was called, just make sure it has the black cap and says high heat in orange letters). It is more matte than the grills original black color but I actually like it better. No new rust yet and it looks like new again. Hope this helps someone

edit: just looked up the spray. Here is a link http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=112
it costs about 4 bucks at Walmart
