what about avchd video support? it seems Adobe has been slow to incorporate the avchd video format into its products

Whew this program's a memory hog! My computer's chugging away.

I think even at the full retail price, LR4 is one of the most useful programs anyone who enjoys taking pictures can own.
Instagram is laughably terrible (You take photos regardless of quality and make 'em crappy)

I tried using Paintshop Pro for a few weeks. I found it to be clunky and wasn't even able to activate my copy.

Thanks for this info, I was debating between this for $129 or Instagram for $1,000,000,000.00. This definitely sounds like a better deal.

They were at first but it now works in the latest versions. LR4 is mostly designed for very basic video work with DSLRS which don't shoot in AVCHD. Its more for viewing and cropping clips rather than real editing. They do have a 30 day trial of LR4 on their website and it might be a good idea to test this if it is an important feature for you. I do know that the latest version of Premier in CS5.5 does support AVCHD and has for the past few versions.

A bit disappointed I missed this deal. I got busy and did not get it ordered last night.

Dont worry, there will be more deals if youre not in a rush. My guess is that LR4 wont sell lower than $99 during its lifetime, so at $130 one month after release, this was probably not a bad deal. But there will be more deals.
