Roth IRA with Vanguard : Which option do I want?

I was going to open a Roth IRA with Vanguard and they gave me this question. I don't know much about stocks yet so I was going to pick a target fund for now but eventually I want to buy individual stocks. Which option do I pick?

Vanguard funds (most common)

Vanguard funds have very low expense ratios... most of the time they are the lowest in the industry. Target retirement fund is good. Choose based when your retirement age is to be. I am 37, so VFORX is what I have.

Why do you want to buy individual stocks? Are you a gambler or investor? I can see owning a few stocks because you like the company, but not as a retirement tool. Its just too risky...

Same one for me. Age 39.

Just switched everything over to vg for myself and wife. All into vforx.

I just wanted to max out my contribution for 2011. I will look into dollar cost averaging in the future. If I want to max my contribution, would you recommend just putting in ~$415 every month?
