To those complaining about national being the most expensive, I managed to snag a Miami - Boston one way, unlimited miles, week-long rental with them for $166 in a mid-size (Corolla).

Pick-up in airport, so pretty convenient.

I still don't know if I need a non-owner insurance policy or if it is included...

Why did those of you use the email option? By using the email option, someone was going to manually handle the upgrade status. I'm sure as soon as the emails were flying in, they got suspicious. Sending an email was almost on the same level as calling, which we all know is wrong! I followed someone's instructions on here about using the OP's link and it would find you if you were already an Emerald member. I was able to get Executive status immediately with no problem. Unfortunately, this won't work anymore.

Because that was the only option if you already were an Emerald Club member.

Nope. If you read through this thread, you'll see that wasn't the case. I was already an Executive member that was getting ready to expire. I went through the link and after I entered my info, it found that I was already an existing member.

There were others that were currently Emerald members that went through the link and it also upgraded them.

This deal is dead, unless you're a legitimate customer of Signature Flight Services.

I don't know where you all get your prices. I have been a National Emerald Club member since the late 90s. I have never booked a car at National for even $40/day. That includes all the insurance (which I don't have to pay for) and the fact that I can end up with an SUV or convertible or whatever I want for around $35/day, no matter what city I rent in. Then there are also coupons most times that allow money off and you earn free days. $81/day Wow
It all depends on the location you're renting from, and whether you rent on weekends or weekdays. Weekends are generally much cheaper. I typically rent from National or Hertz, and in many cities I can easily get rates under $25/day (including taxes). I found a great Hertz deal in Cleveland this weekend for $12/day including taxes after applying a AAA $10/day coupon code. Similar deals often exist with National as well.

I rented a van last weekend from National and took the email print out of the upgrade email reply. Nobody on the counter had a clue about what was to be done.
I also called Signature club support in Indianapolis and they also didn't know how to apply the upgrade. Also called emerald club customer support and they didn't have any idea either.

How do I get it done? Thanks.

I just received my Executive Emerald card. If I signed up for this deal when it was first posted, is my executive membership valid?

It gives Emerald Club but not Executive Status.

Ugh, I just missed it again... I REALLY want it but I'm always late.
I also got Emerald Club with expiration Dec 31, 2037...

Bumping an old thread.

I searched SD, and came across this thread. Was able to email message them using the instructions above and got an email response that I've been bumped to Executive today. woot

Looks like its still working but YMMV based on the rep that reads your email.
