$99 was a steal. The hard drive alone was selling for more than $150 when this was priced at $99.
DITTO. I just bought a new one off Craigslist for $128 shipped and that was cheapest price in the country at the time. The only time it will be $99 again is when a newer/better model comes out.
I did a lot of research before buying this - wanted to get a Roku but I care more about playing my own files than streaming over internet, though this covers most of the major streaming sites (no Amazon), and they're improving it pretty often. The support for different file formats is 2nd to none.
I would recommend not using the absolute latest firmware - seems to be buggy from what I read, go one previous: 3.01.19 (got it just by editing the link from WD's download page for the latest firmware).
Anyway, even $150 is a steal - the worst 1TB NAS you could buy will still be $100. I got this instead of the live plus so I could also have a backup solution since most of what I would back up is media anyway. It has a Gigabit port, but you will not see speeds greater than about 17MB/s.
