Comcast Cable line not buried?
Recently had Xfinity cable installed at my house. What I didn't notice at the time but did this morning was that I have a cable running across my backyard not buried. Is this something that Comcast should take care of or should I just do it? American Outlaws - USMNT supporters

I wish I would have known how the install would have taken place.
Just googled this subject and I'm seeing complaint after complaint on cable lines just being draped across lawns instead of being buried. Many customers waiting 2-3 months for Comcast to come out and do something. Drat... |

You can contact whichever city organization manages the contract to have comcast service your are. For Cable and Telephone companies the PUC or some similar organization controls them and so if you file a complaint you might get action, you can also find out how long they have to bury the cable. You could also cut the cable off at both ends then call Comcast and tell them your cable is not working

The install person or crew does the installation of the service but there is a separate department that is responsible to come out and bury the cabling. Now that could be done anywhere from same day to 2 weeks from the installation. AT&T and Comcast kind of run hand in hand when it comes to time frames. I'd wait a little bit before calling Customer Service and complaining.

Ok... but the line is supposed to be buried, right?
I mean I know it is... At least I think it is... but I also know Comcast is going to give me the run around with some lame excuse as to why it is not buried. I looked out the window this morning and see this big black cable line just sprawled out in the backyard and I was like WTF is that. I think I'm going on week 3 on Comcast now. Is it still to soon to call or should it have been done by now? Thanks everyone! |

I had one exposed for over a year before someone came out and buried it. Calling was pointless for me, it finally got buried because the outside connection got fried and when they came out to repair they indicated someone would come out soon and fix it. Apparently their repair crew actually had some pull because someone came out the next day.

I told him some lame story how I explained to Comcast prior to install that this a new room not prewired and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. He hemmed and stalled trying to get out of it. Finally I said I would help with the install. He went outside to connect the cable while I was inside running my fish line to across the ceiling and what not. The install was actually very easy. Took another 15 minutes or so which he didn't want to do. I wish I would have seen right then and there what he was doing outside. |

I have lived in several places where it was just buried a few inches deep and had problems. On one occasion, a dog dug up and ate through the line. Why it was buried in my neighbors yard I have no idea. One other house just had the plasitc rot off the cable due to being wet constantly from irrigation. It may not be common practcice to run the line through tubing, but it should be. |
