Does anyone know of an idiot's guide for overclocking the Asus motherboard (specifically the one in this deal, the P8Z68-V LX )? I've searched google but can't find a step-by-step for this motherboard, for say to a safe 4.5. I'm not planning on using the Asus oclock software since I hear its not a good idea. . Just looking for step by step instructions. Or... any SD'er want to create one??

VCore offset + is my preferred method for overclocking, as it allows the motherboard to drop the voltage at idle and save you some power. I have no clue why some people manually set the Vcore, such a waste of energy and feeding your chip all that voltage 24/7 is a bad idea. If you have good cooling for your case, this is a good OC board. |

![]() I tried the following test today, but the vcore temps got to mid 70's and still climbing, so had to abandon my intelburntest program. Under System Performance tab, selected 'Normal' AI Tweker Menu > AI Overclock Tuner = Manual Turbo Ratio = By all cores By All cores = 37 (conservative eh!) CPU Offset Mode Sign = - (negative) CPU Voltage 1.215V = 0.010 They're the only things I changed, but like I say, running that inteltestburn, the vcore temp readings got dangerously high. |

I managed to get a manager to let me return the Gigabyte Z68X board, in exchange for the Z77-UD5 board. Just paid the difference.
The extra $32 for native USB 3.0, more ports, and an extra ethernet jack seems pretty decent
