I am heading over to MC tomorrow to pick up an i-3+mobo. If anybody wants the i5 or the i7 I can grab one along the way for $20 fee+shipping to cover some of my costs. Will be heading over to the Paterson NJ location with 3.5% sales tax. Please PM me if you want one.
I don't think you are allowed to do that here. Regardless, either do it for free or keep quiet.
If I make the trip to MC which is 40% likely, I'll do it for free.

Furthermore, you might end up having everything stolen in Paterson.

local MC doesn't have any CPUs left. Anyone know how fast they re-stock? Thank you!

Which is a better overclocker, i7 2600k or i5 2500k?
there is no clear answer to that since it depends on each individual chip and what batch it came from...i have a 2500k i bought last year and have it overclocked to 4.3ghz without having ot bump up voltage or anything, others have not had that kind of luck with the exact same processor. the 2600k is clocked at 0.1ghz faster for it's base clock speed. both are unlocked and able to be overclocked and just depends on each individual

again, the hyperthreading is really the biggest difference between these chips and not much else

Here's the other I could confirm: http://www.microcenter.com/single...id=0364085

One caveat: the ASUS has PCIe 3.0, the GIGABYTE does not. If you want to overclock you'd probably be better served with the GIGABYTE, otherwise the ASUS will work.
Sorry, it's been a while since I built a desktop. What RAM and Graphic Card go with this motherboard?

Thanks man, the i7 seems to be an obvious choice if I can make it to MC.

For $200, I'd jump on this. Our only local computer store (CompUSA) still sells this thing for $319 Frown

I'd go with either this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820231428 or get the Corsair Vengeance (MC has that). They are both true 1600 speed RAM since they run at 1.5 volts stock, as 1.65 volt is nothing more than overclocked 1333 RAM. Graphics depends on what you want to use the computer for. That Zotac SD, if still available, was a decent low end bang for buck. High end the best recent deal was that EVGA GTX 560 448 core at Amazon for $190, but that deal is dead. My recommendation is use the onboard video until another SD comes along, which could be any second since a new lineup of video cards is in the works and companies such as Amazon, Newegg, and TigerDirect will be clearing out old stock.

Very good deal! The new ivy bridge won't beat the price/performance of a 2600k @ $200. Smilie
