Comfirmed Frys price match by nikets01

*7:41AM EST EDIT*
Added the following Motherboard to cart and was able to get $50 off Combo!:
ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard (SKU: 812289) Comes out to $69.99+tax http://www.microcenter.com/single...id=0371775
Intel Core i7 2600k (SKU: 200154) $199.99+tax http://www.microcenter.com/single...id=0354587

Total: $269.98+tax

Here's the other Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 LGA 1155 Z68 (SKU: 525667) for $109.99 + tax [microcenter.com]

Well, if you look at Page 3 of their ads, on the left upper corner it lists 2 motherboards that will bundle with the i7 2600K, and I guess those are the only two so far.

OOS:

Santa Clara, CA
Tustin, CA
Fairfax, VA
Rockville, MD
Houston, TX
Paterson, NJ (Even though website shows 5 in stock)

nirvanaguy - just called the Cambridge facility and they are NOT sold out. the guy said they have a ton of i7 2600ks left but they just dont show up on the site
ruffilb - Just picked up one in Cambridge plus the Asus mobo. They have plenty left (Saturday ~3pm).

FYI: I was able to price match with Best Buy and they shipped it free! ~atari
FYI: 9 p.m. EST Best Buy price match is a cake walk AND allows purchase of MULTIPLES. Rep knew exactly what I was calling about as soon as I said the product- asked me if I wanted to PM it to Microcenter...said he'd already "sold 4" and it was only the first half hour of his shift.
FYI: 4/23 21:00. Successful PM to BestBuy.

FYI: Called store and confirmed 30-day price guarantee at Tustin, CA. If you bought this in the last 30 days, take your receipt back in for a refund of the difference. ~odb

Fountain Valley Fry's refused to price match on grounds of OOS. -Tsumi

Well damn!!! I got suckered into buying the ECS Black Deluxe P67H2-A2 SLI that I have OC to 4.8ghz(never tried higher). Now I am pissed off, damn cheap board that I paid $95 for.
This is what tom's hardware said about it:

ECS, for example, packs its P67H2-A2 with the greatest number of features, going so far as to include RAID mode for both of its additional 6Gb/s controllers (SATA and eSATA), and even supplying the board with teaming-capable dual network controllers and a black-dyed brushed-aluminum bay adapter for its front-panel USB 3.0 jacks. This board went on to take second place in CPU overclocking behind the legendary Asus, and our only real complaint is an immature UEFI that had a few of its labels switched. The P67H2-A2 was delivered as a $200 sample, and ECS is likely to win over a great number of converts if it can keep that price while resolving its last few early-firmware problems.

Why no MC in Austin TX still..... We do have Frys but we need MC to.
congrats if you're able to get to 4.8ghz on that board...I never heard of that particular ECS board...must be nice for ECS to step up to the plate like that

my statement is just a generalization...and if you're in the hardware game long enough, you'll know ECS and a few other companies don't come out with premium or higher quality boards...its usually just for OEM builders and people who wants to plug n play

just because that ECS board can do well, doesn't mean all $90 and below boards can as well...please keep that in mind

i know this post isnt relevant to the 2600k, but i am trying to sell my q6600 on ebay so i can get a 2600k. This buyer, buys 100+ cpu a day. I have no clue why. Why in the world would anybody need that many cpu? it ranges from core duo to the sandy bridges. Can anyone help me understand why hes buying so many? i feel weary selling it to him because he best offered me.

He's an alien front and is buying our sophisticated technology in an attempt to improve alien weapons technology. It's a trick, don't do it. Probably using matter replicated money or hacked credit card funds too.

Good instincts!

(or he might be a group buying discounted CPU's and reselling them for 3rd world markets. A Q6600 will works great on older motherboards and is totally capable of running even modern OS's). Software can be counterfeited. CPU's? Not so much.

I got the Asus mobo + the 2600k.
Thinking of pairing them with my old CM GEMINII cpu cooler (air cooling with 2x120mm fans). Problem is, it's made for lga775 socket. Does anyone know if I can use it on lga1055? If not then is there an easy way to mod it? Or should I just get a 212+ for $30 and be done with it?

I heard the stock cooler is pretty good so...perhaps it can take me to 4.8ghz? I know, long shot Smilie

I was going to upgrade to 2500k 6 months ago when the AMD X4 840 + mobo for $60 rolled around. I jumped on that deal and now I have 2 extra sets of mobo+cpu+fan+ram. I guess I can put them on CL.

just buy a $30 212+ and be done with it

and no, a stock cooler isn't capable for that high of an overclock...at least not reliably

stock cooler to 4.8, no. not unless if you want to kill your cpu or shorten it's life, then yes. but there are always exceptions.... you can always try it out and monitor the temps and see for yourself.

I know...the stock cooler won't carry me to 4.8Ghz. But maybe...4.5? Smilie

Anyway, it's just a shame that I have to throw away the GeminII. That thing is a freaking best and could definitely help cool the VRMs and other components near the CPU. The Asus board could use extra cooling cuz there's no heatsinks.

This 2600K is going to pretty much triple my current X4 840 performance at stock speed [cpubenchmark.net]. OC'ing it is only going to widen the gap. The funny thing is I don't even need that much speed. I only turn on my desktop for gaming and I'm playing only SC2 atm. Waiting for D3. D3 should require more but then my video card (9600GT) is going to be the bottleneck, not the CPU. Ah dang it, now I gotta shop for a new video card.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how this is not a slick deal for me. Spend $46 for D3 (recent Amazon PM to UK site) and spend about $500 for new CPU, mobo, cooler, PSU, videocard...may have to get some of those new Samsung RAM too (and sell my 16GB of DDR3 1.65v 1600Mhz RAM). WTH slickdeals. You're supposed to save me money!

Ended up going to Tustin to see for myself after kicking myself yesterday for not getting a price match on the 2600k.

200 were sold the first day. When I showed up they had 30 earlier that day ... guess what, sold out :-/.

Pic as proof when the salesmen checked for me in the back. :-/ thats all folks in CA. -3 in stock :-/

So while i made the trip i took advantage of the Phenom II X4 960T Black edition for 89.99 + GA-970A-UD3 Socket AM3+ 970 ATX AMD Motherboard for 119.00 - 10.00 instant - 50 for for a the processor purchase. Top it off with 8 gigs of Corsair ram for 34.99... I saw the 32.99 one just came out ... no biggie. Total came to 189.17 AR.

Props to http://slickdeals.net/f/4199906-Micro-Center-has-the-Phenom-II-X4-960T-Black-Edition-3GHz-Quad-Core-Socket-AM3-Boxed-Processor-Select-motherboard-combo-for-89-99-B-M-ONLY?v=1
