Added the following Motherboard to cart and was able to get $50 off Combo!:
ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard (SKU: 812289) Comes out to $69.99+tax http://www.microcenter.com/single...id=0371775

Here's the other Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 LGA 1155 Z68 (SKU: 525667) for $109.99 + tax [microcenter.com]

Well, if you look at Page 3 of their ads, on the left upper corner it lists 2 motherboards that will bundle with the i7 2600K, and I guess those are the only two so far.

OOS:

Santa Clara, CA
Tustin, CA
Fairfax, VA
Rockville, MD
Houston, TX
Paterson, NJ (Even though website shows 5 in stock)

nirvanaguy - just called the Cambridge facility and they are NOT sold out. the guy said they have a ton of i7 2600ks left but they just dont show up on the site
ruffilb - Just picked up one in Cambridge plus the Asus mobo. They have plenty left (Saturday ~3pm).

FYI: I was able to price match with Best Buy and they shipped it free! ~atari
FYI: 9 p.m. EST Best Buy price match is a cake walk AND allows purchase of MULTIPLES. Rep knew exactly what I was calling about as soon as I said the product- asked me if I wanted to PM it to Microcenter...said he'd already "sold 4" and it was only the first half hour of his shift.
FYI: 4/23 21:00. Successful PM to BestBuy.

FYI: Called store and confirmed 30-day price guarantee at Tustin, CA. If you bought this in the last 30 days, take your receipt back in for a refund of the difference. ~odb

Fountain Valley Fry's refused to price match on grounds of OOS. -Tsumi

Yes. I would return and pay the extra $20 difference. I know you say that you are only using it for Diablo 3, but you don't know what you are going to need a year or two from now.
You take that back! All my hopes and dreams are tied to the May 15th release date.

PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series HX750
Optical: Pioneer BDR-207DBKS

Something about cheaper UPSes not outputting proper sinusoidal current...
I think it was because cheaper UPSes can't output a true sine waveform.

love this thing. Hit 4.5 ghz easily with the asus board combo with less than 1.3v vcore using the asus software and never pass 52C . Testing at 4.7ghz now
That's great news. I went the asus route and I'll be interested in your final results. What type of CPU cooler are you using and what case do you have?

looks like a solid build. you need to get a new monitor. 20 inch 560 ti is overkill lol. The haf 922 is also lower (10$ lower than what i saw before) so i think its a good deal. That case does not have a bottom intake filter so you have to make or buy your own that would fit (so your psu will not fill up with dust). You may need to get another 200mm for the side panel for more airflow (intake will also need a filter).

the haf 922 does not have usb 3.0 either. You will need to pay more if you want 3.0 slots
2 ideas on this...
1. I could use one of my 52" Samsung LCD Smart tvs for display
2. Could I possibly alter the case for USB 3.0?

What's the input lag on your 52" Samsung LCD Smart TV?

Also modding a case for USB 3.0 is a pain. It's better to buy a case that already has front USB 3.0 ports.

1) you could use the 52 inch display. However, idk how it would effect the game performance since ive never used such a huge screen. Watching movies will most likely be fine.

2) i doubt you could alter the case because the usb 2.0 are usb2.0 headers (unless you want to tear them completely out and put in usb3.0 headers) i dont know where they would sell those headers alone and it would take a bunch of work. Your best bet is to buy the 5' or 3.5' usb 3.0 ports in from if your case. But remember, most motherboards right now do not have integrated usb 3.0 yet. But i think the z77 series does have integrated usb 3.0. the 3.5' headers i think go for about ~20$?

which would make ur case from amazon a total of 80$ AR with the usb 3.0

a great alternative with a hot swap bay is this one.
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Car...TNDGAET8WG

great airflow and solid case. Some people dont like it though. But it does have usb 3.0

i personally went with this case

http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Mast...TNDGAET8WG

just because this one has a usb 3.0 roundabout to the back. (no usb 3.0 header) since i do not have integrated usb 3.0. This is also a very quiet case and not a lot of airflow

Did anyone purchase theirs with the ASUS board and try to overclock it yet? I am up at school right now and I won't be back in the Detroit area to finish building mine for another week.

I know you can only overclock with VCore Offset+ and not with manually tweaking the CPU Vcore, but that isn't really a concern with me. If you get good at OCing with VCore Offset, you can hit the same high frequencies as when you tweak the voltage under "manual" but then the CPU voltage will drop when at idle saving you some energy costs and also harming your chip less.

Anyone? What frequencies have you hit? I have read online reviews that have reported 5.1Ghz, but that is hard to believe given what everyone else is saying about the board.

I got up to 4.8ghz but the max temp went up to 60"C and i have to raise Vcore to 1.37-1.38. I settled at 4.5ghz with Vcore 1.26 and never pass 52"C during prime95. So far I have been running prime 95 for like an hour without error and temp is at 48"C. Im using hyper 212 plus cpu cooler and antec 1200 case.

When using a TV for gaming the input lag should be low. A good example is of a relatively low input lag HDTV is the LG 42LD450.

Cheap TN panel monitors tend to have almost no input lag but the picture quality is horrible (comparatively speaking). When you use VA or IPS panel displays then you have to start worrying about input lag more. DLP and Plasma are generally worse than the VA and IPS panel display devices in terms of input lag.

Excellent! Big Grin I would be extremely satisfied with those results. Not much more anyone could expect on air. I also will be using the 212+ and my case is a HAF 932.
