I'd like to discuss if you think it's fair that Wu closed down the Daniel Adkins thread because it's a "where's the outrage thread"?

The title say it all.
Personally I think it's not fair to close that thread as it's really about exposing the fact that the media doesn't jump on some stories but harp on others.
The thread wasn;t even give a chance to get off the ground.
14 posts in and it's closed.
I mean seriously?
This is a debate forum.
Is it really that sensitive of a thread that it's going to wreak havoc?
Is it going to eat up bandwidth?
Closing that thread IMO is ridiculously ticky tack.
I know I'm opening myself up to a huge disagreement with Wu but hopefully he doesn;t kill this thread and allows the participants of the forum here weigh in on this.

This can be that thread if people want to chime in generically on the whole"where's the outrage" thing.
I think it helps to have a prime example of why that shouldn't apply, at least in this case.
There are times where a thread should be closed down for that but I think this one should not.
A lot of modding requires improvisation if you will and I think this one was just a bad choice.
It's not like the thread was given a chance and then shut down because it was problematic with mod alerts or something.
Then again, maybe that's exactly why it was closed.
Instead of the people that want to hang Zimmerman discussing it, they just weaseled and mod alerted it and wu answered their cries?

That would have been a good topic to post in the established thread on Martin. Especially since those threads feature little more than speculation and personal attacks related to people being offended by one kind of speculation or another.

No and for the reason that I would like a public discussion.
If this was a deletion of one of my posts, ort perhaps he had closed my personal thread then maybe I would have sent a private message.
The thread was closed publicly and so I felt a public discussion was warranted.
The closing of the thread affects all of us here so I feel we can at least try to be mature adults and discuss it.

I think the point of a separate thread is too keep that already bogged down thread from getting more bogged down than it already is.
Plus since it's a separate incident maybe it will gain as much interest separate from the media attention angle.
