Coby 9.7" Tablet Android 4.0 ICS, 8 GB, WiFi, HDMI, USB, $229 at Fry's through 4/19/12
Frys Electronics has the Coby MID9742-8 9.7 Inch Android 4.0 Tablet on sale for $229 April 13 - April 19, 2012, in-store or online.
Fry's cheapest shipping looks like its around $8-9 depending on location.
Ok, I don't think of Coby as a brand leader in electronics. The brand actually scares me. But, this tablet appears to be fairly decent at this price-point. I'm thinking on buying it.
What I Like
It comes with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) out of the box. Its a new model recently released. Coby has had time to copy its competitors & work on the design. It has HDMI & USB ports. Light - 1 lb. Price. It's not refurbished or being sold by 1saleaday.
What I Don't Like
8 GB storage... eh, a little light, but it has a microSDHC slot to add 32 GB. It's only 9.7" instead of 10.1". Coby brand. Unknown long term reliability.
I didn't find a lot of reviews on the product, prolly cuz its new. There are currently three 5 star reviews on Amazon.
Price at Amazon.com is $241 w/free shipping.
Amazon Link w/Reviews Here [amazon.com]
Most other stores / sites sell it for $249 & up.
QVC apparently sold these for $279. There are mixed reviews there. Customers either loved it, or were frustrated because they didn't know how to download apps other than the free ones from the pre-loaded GetJar marketplace. If you get this, you need to download the Amazon AppStore app, then you're open to downloading a lot more. You also need to download Flash.
