Halo 4 - OUT NOW

If Halo went back to the roots instead of adding all of these stupid abilities and stuff, I'd probably go back and try it. I bought Reach but basically just to play through the campaign.

Reach did have an awesome campaign. Firefight was fun too.

I just played that the other night on the Halo Anniversary Edition by myself and made it through 13 waves before I got completely obliterated.

a core tenet of what makes Halo a "halo" game is that all players start on the same level playing field. same weapon, same abilities, shields, etc. Halo was originally a pure arena shooter without classes or loadouts. Reach essentially threw that formula (and most of the Halo fans/population) out the window. with Reach and now the alleged Halo 4 changes you get a "rock-paper-scissors" decision at the start of each match and each time you die and respawn. giving players "choice" in their loadouts/perks/abilities essentially creates massive imbalance in the game (especially when those choices include armor lock, jetpack, and active camo).

i was really hoping that Halo 4 would return to a pure arena shooter where all upgrades, abilities, and weapons were found on the map and were fought over. apparently they've decided to go farther down the path away from traditional Halo and more toward the wave of modern shooters. don't get me wrong, i love BF3 and used to love COD, but Halo was always my favorite because it was different; because games came down to outsmarting, outplaying, or just being better than the other team.

tl;dr - Reach is the worst Halo game to date and 4 looks like it will be only slightly better, ergo no preorder for me

100% agreed. I was really disappointed in Reach also. I sold it only after 2 weeks. Although, i was only slightly less disappointed in BF3 (sold it after a month) and MW3 (sold it after 3 months.) Maybe I'm just being nostalgic or reminscing on my college days, but for me, Halo 2 mp was as good as it could get.

Agreed. I hated Halo 3 MP for some reason. I have actually played more Reach MP than 3 for some reason.

It's probably a little bit of nostalgia but the matchmaking for Halo is pretty great(in theory you should have pretty even matches). Where as with COD it just throws random groups together and you hope you crush your opponent.

I would agree...in Halo, the matches were almost ALWAYS close except if you had a putz that left early. Even if you got a great team and got on a roll, the competition would raise within a match or two and you'd be right back to 50 to 47 games. I have never played a game that gets more evenly matched servers than Halo.

All the time in BF3 I can get on a team that just dominates and win 5 straight games (not that I mind that...)

Graphics look too cartoony. Almost like cell shading without the dark outlines.
