I don't like travel systems, they are too heavy and bulky, and lots of better strollers will take a carseat. However as travel systems go, this is the best one for the price, even at full price, so this is a good deal. Don't neglect the 22 lb seat, if you have an average sized baby or smaller - babies usually outgrow the seats by height rather than weight. |

For convertible or forward facing cars seats, however, you can't beat Britax. |

When your infant is in a travel system, the whole thing is really heavy, and once he/she outgrows it, you're left with a big bulky stroller. Put your money elsewhere. |

Another reason for all the Chicco vs. Britax talk...
(iirc, been a couple of years now) the chicco keyfit30 and the britax chaperone were pretty much the only two infant car seats that you could put in a 5 pound newborn into. Most people would gladly pay less. with great power comes great responsibility -- spiderman movie

Most infant seats have a height limit of either 29", 30", or 32", and each inch will give you about two more months of use, so up to six months of difference between 29" and 32" seat. So only consider the added weight capacity if the height limit is also increased. That said, rather than get the biggest seat and trying to stretch it out all the way until the convertible seat, consider the possibility of two infant seats as a strategy from the beginning. Benefits can be lighter weight and size when lugging baby and seat together the first 6-9 months - though the Chicco 22 lb seat here is not actually lighter than the 30 lb one, other brands are lighter in the 22 lb seat. But to offset the added cost of a two infant seat strategy, I second the suggestion of getting a lightweight stroller frame for the first months instead of a travel system stroller. Most find they want a better and lighter stroller after six months and know more about what they want at that point. But great deal OP, at these types of prices the stroller is almost a freebie and a no-brainer. But make the choice based on the needs of the carseat, and only buy up to the travel system combo if the deal is good like this. |

I also agree that many of the travel systems tend to be bulky and heavy. that is why craigslist list is full of them. |
