$1 million bond set for man charged in videotaped beating

I saw this about 1 or 2 weeks ago and was delighted that they caught the man. Thought I'd share it with others who wanted to know if he was ever caught.

Just a bit of harmless fun...

Yet more evidence that I was correct to think discussion of the Trayvon Martin case should have been suspended long ago. Someone does something crazy... most days that doesn't get our attention. But from time to time someone does something crazy and there is a hysteria that rises up around it.

The hysterical people are 'outraged' and there is an outcry that nothing has been done, no one has been arrested... then there are those who are annoyed by the hysteria... they want things to calm down and or to poke the hysterical people in the eye and tell them to shut up. Now they are getting involved in hysteria and end up calling hysterical people names, and now they create threads to "prove" something about the hysterical quality of the hysterical people. As though that was necessary. Everyone can see the hysteria, except for those in it. They are hysterical and unlikely to be persuaded by these new 'proofs'. All you can get is the satisfication of shoving it in the faces of the hysterical people. But you can do that in the established thread... that it is less satisfying is not my concern... but these are sham issues being presented as threads in an debate that has little fruit to offer the podium.

I am against hysteria, but I am also against hysteria about hysteria.

Perhaps when that hysteria permeates most media, the anti hysteria folks enjoy having a medium to point it out.

I maintain there is a difference between "pointing things out" and getting caught up in the hysterical behavior including name calling, insults, race baiting of various flavors, etc.

You don't think there are people that can be convinced that their initial impression about the Zimmerman-Martin case was wrong?

Perhaps, but I can anecdotal say that in my personal life, several of my friends have admitted that they were wrong to believe the liberal media's intentional misrepresentations from the beginning.

People from other tribes and groups are inherently more suspicious to anybody not of that group.

Thus we have the black community rising up in suspicion of the "white" latino.

Diversity promotion is a recipe for suspicion, inter-group hostility, loss of community social capital, tribalism, balkanization, conflict....the euphemism for this is vibrancy.

Good. Though I don't think it's reasonable to expect the people who were/are hysterical to come back and admit their hysteria was unfounded. Pride stands in the way of that.

I would agree on that. The people posting things like, "Anyone who thinks that Zimmerman should be allowed to claim self-defense after chasing Martin down, gun drawn like a maniac" are not reasonable, since they have substituted their own narrative for the actual facts.

If a bunch of white guys would've did this to a single black person.. you'd here claims that they're the KKK or something.. I can't even imagine the hysteria that would occur. They'd be claiming that this was the rise of the confederate south or something like that in Baltimore.. But since the races were reversed it's not really big news? I think the real prejudice is that we don't hold all people accountable to same standards... regardless of race, religion etc..
