Really? You post a 16yr old book by some quack, and then an article which sites the same book? Which, btw, discusses injecting rats with MSG. Do you really not see why the FDA hasn't banned it? Do you think it's a big conspiracy to support the manufacturers of MSG? The American Heart Association must be in on it too?

Or is it because there's still no evidence that it's bad for humans?

If you believe everything you read online about what foods are "bad" for you, I'm really not sure you'd have any good food left to choose from.

There is zero evidence (I repeat zero evidence) that properly manufactured whey protein is a health threat to anyone. The number of beneficial side effects from ingesting whey protein has been proven in study after study for a wide range of demographic groups. It's not anything new, whey protein supplements have now been regularly consumed for over twenty years. It was a hot new supplement in the early 90s and has been taken by literally millions of people by now.

Every protein thread now seems to attract two types: the people with a "natural" diet agenda and uninformed people who think the first links in Google on a subject are authoritative.

Lordy. Everything can be a health threat to someone. What about people who are allergic to milk products? Would you insist (repeat insist) that there's zero evidence of a threat to them?

Whey is a very safe supplement, but there are real health concerns about MSG which cannot be addressed by flippancy. Personally I've never considered whey protein to be a problematic source of MSG--I think more of Doritos and ramen noodle powder--but I see no basis to summarily dismiss the existence of long-term MSG toxicity on scientific grounds. People should do their own research rather than pontificating that it's completely safe or acutely lethal.
