2000 watt Portable Generator $139 free shipping @ Home Depot
Home Depot has a $40 discount on the Sportsman 2000 watt (1500 continuous watt) portable generator. It has good reviews and is much more portable than most generators of that capacity. Regular price is $189 + online discount of - $40 and use promo APRILHD (must be in caps) for another -$10 making the final price $139 with free shipping!

According to multiple reviews, it should be enough to power the basics during an emergency such as a fridge, sump pump and a couple of lights.
There seems to be some confusion as to what wattage you need to run certain items. One post claimed this unit is insufficient for a fridge which is completely wrong. Here is a useful link that will assist you to determine what type of wattage you will need. Consumer Reports linky [consumerreports.org]
As a couple of posts have stated, it is probably not a good idea to run sensitive electronics on this machine (TV's, PC's, etc). The main purpose for this generator is for emergency backups, camping and to run tools.
