I don't know about TT online, but I started mine free on the iPad version of TurboTax. At the end I chose not to pay, but instead saved the tax file. Then I was able to pull the file off the iPad, and after I bought the $33 version off amazon, I was able to resume my taxes on the computer without having to reenter anything in.
If they give you the option to save the file to your computer from the online version (as a .tax2011 file), you should be able to do this too.
Yep.. on TurboTax.com I see Program Options > Save your 2011 return to your computer.
