This its the "New Ultra" at 30mb/s class 10 that SanDisk just released ......... correct me if im wrong but I think thats what the Extreme was ( the newer extreme is 45MB/s class 10 )
Ultra had a speed bump up from 15MB/s to 30 MB/s ( so the new cards like this is 30mb/s ) Extreme also had a speed bump up from 30 mb/s to 45 mb/s ( although many extremes in the market are still 30mb/s) Last edited by Chizzness; 04-16-2012 at 08:19 AM.. |

Extreme (old) = 30MB/s Extreme = 45MB/s In a USB 2.0 card reader (maxes out @ 20MB/s) ======== Read |=| Write Ultra ------- ~20MB/s | ~13MB/s Extreme - ~20MB/s | ~20MB/s In a USB 3.0 card reader: ======== Read |=| Write Ultra ------- ~40MB/s | ~13MB/s Extreme - ~45MB/s | ~43MB/s Last edited by AkumaX; 04-16-2012 at 02:45 PM.. AFAIK, no. However, I'm not sure how "fast" some of these P&S's are...
I believe the Canon XS DSLR writes to the card @ 13MB/s. So you'd be peaking out an Ultra, and maybe might see a tiny bit of performance gain w/ an Extreme. But I think the T2i/T3i/60D all write to the card @ 20-25MB/s... so an Extreme would definitely help here. If you had a basic P&S, I doubt it would be writing to the card > 10MB/s... But maybe "high end" P&S's (like Canon S100, Panasonic LX5) might write to it faster. Hope that helps! Also, you could use it as a thumb drive and see the performance gains that way. I have a Canon T3i/600D and with continuous shooting 18M JPEGs, I can shoot non-stop. If I shoot RAW, I can shoot 6 pictures before it chokes. With JPEG+RAW, I can shoot 3 pictures before it chokes. Shooting 1080/30p video is no problem with this card. I can shoot the full 12 minutes with no setbacks. It does get a little warm, but the warm feeling is like the feel of warm fresh copies off a copy machine.
EDIT: I also have two 16GB SanDisk Extreme HD Video SDHC cards and they perform exactly the same as the SanDisk Ultra SDXC cards. The camera chokes before these cards do. Last edited by enraginangel; 04-16-2012 at 10:10 AM.. |

The buffering issues are the flaw of your camera. In case you still haven't figured it out, megabits per second is different than megabytes per second. Keep working on that. |

|
Also, get it through your head - we know the difference between megabits and megabytes. |
