HELP: From Los Angeles to Peru in June

I'm from the East Coast, so I have no idea how much it should cost from LAX. However, I know that if you can get to Miami, you shouldn't pay more than $400 round trip from Miami and more realistically $300-$350. Try booking a round trip to Miami (should cost you less than $300 I imagine if you find the right sale) and then a round trip from there to Lima. You may get there under $600 that way if you can't get there for less than a grand from LAX.

Also, try LAN's website -- but try it in Spanish. Someone gave me that tip once -- to try it in the local language. I needed to book a flight on LAN within Peru, and it was about 30% cheaper for the SAME EXACT FLIGHT on the Spanish language version of the site than on the English version of the site. Even if you don't speak Spanish, it shouldn't be too tough to pick cities and dates out of a drop down.

A grand sounds awfully high to me to get to Peru.......also just keep searching. I tend to have found the best prices when I'm searching aroud 5am or 6am Eastern time for some reason. Check on different days of the week and at different times -- prices fluctuate. Best of luck.

Be aware that there are certain fare classes that are meant for locals only -- you'll need to show a Peruvian ID to checkin with those fare classes. The TripAdvisor forums have more details about this.

For intra-Peru flights (e.g. to Cuzco or Arequipa), you can also try TAM and Peruvian Air.

FYI - as a benchmark, I went to Peru last June from SEA and paid about $900 for my fare.
