Usual followers on SD would probably be already aware of all clearance threads on Target TVs coming up every now and then.

I just thought will create this master thread so people can follow easily and pull this thread up when at a Target store!

Don't bother Repping Me, its not created for that purpose BUT just to keep a master thread where we can have a one stop thread for finding all clearance deals on TVs from our beloved Target Big Grin.

I have pulled a few from this week and please feel free to add to the the thread and I'll update the OP. Thanks for your help in organizing Target TV deals - lets get them all Wink

I have never had to file a claim with target and I have never purchased a ST warranty but based on what I have read ST warranties operate the same as the target warranty. They will only pay what you paid for the item not the original price. I could be wrong but that is what I gathered from what I read.

This is from the ST website

THE VALUE OF YOUR COVERAGE:

The value of your Care Plan is in most cases equal to the purchase price of your item. Each time you file a valid claim, and we provide repair, the total value of your coverage is reduced by the cost of the repairs.

Then if you file another valid claim with us on the same item, and repairs are estimated to cost more than the remaining value of your Care Plan, the remaining value of your Care Plan will be offered instead.
Thank you. I called them as well. The person that answered the phone said that I could purchase a plan for the retail price of the TV, but I would have to obtain a copy of an ad from Target showing the retail price in order for them to honor that price.
Since my TV retails at $619 the ST warranty would cost me $75. I paid $163. I'm not sure it's worth spending the extra money for a 3 yr warranty. If the warranty covered a longer period then it would be a no brainer. Although, I did buy a display model!

I recently bought a washing machine at Home Depot and if they can't repair the washer, then they will give me moeny to replace it with a comparable one. At least that's what I was told.

That is excellent information. I had no clue that you could insure the full amount of the item. I definitively would have purchased through them if I had known that. Thanks.

My item was on sale. Can I get a Care Plan for the full replacement value?

Answer:

Your SquareTrade Care Plan is limited in value to the purchase price of your item, and we generally ask you to use the actual price paid for your item when purchasing a warranty.

However, if you bought your item from a retail website or store, and you got a substantial discount, the actual purchase price might be far lower than the fair replacement value of the item. In such a case, in order to make sure you have enough value in the warranty to replace your item after a claim, you are welcome to use the full regular retail price to purchase the warranty, as opposed to the sale price you paid. This might make the warranty more expensive than if you use the sale price, but you'll get more value in your coverage.

If you choose to use the full retail value to buy the warranty, please provide proof of that retail value of your item when you submit your sales receipt. If the full price is shown on your receipt, that is sufficient. If not, you can provide a local ad showing the original price, or a printout from the manufacturer's website or a national retail website (Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) showing the MSRP or regular price, or something similar showing the full value of the item.

Please note that this process does not apply to items from eBay. For eBay items, we can only use the actual auction value for your warranty. Also, this does not apply to discounts for open-box, floor model, or store display items. Please call us at 1-877-WARRANTY (877-927-7268) for assistance with coverage for open box or display items.

Here's my concern ...
What flat screen TV is going to cost less than $600 to repair, realistically? When they go, isn't usually the control board? Add the cost of labor and it sounds like ST would just sent a check for the full purchase price, right? Or, try to fix it one time and if that doesn't do it, send you a check for the remaining difference? So, realistically, we may get stuck with a TV that still doesn't work and a check for the remaining balance of $100 after one attempted repair. It sounds like ST is selling a groupon for TV repair (lol). $75 for one attempt at repairing your TV.

For example:
Cost of 1st Repair - Purchase Price = Remaining value of your original purchase price

Kidding aside, am I missing something? Where's the value? I'm confused.

I don't think so, not for a clearance television.

If you want a ST warranty and have a Costco option, do that instead. ST warranties run concurrently with the factory warranty so 3 years = 3 years total. If you purchase from Costco (which is cheaper than ST even with a 25-30% coupon) for TVs in this price range, you get 4 years. 1 manufacturer + 3 extended. Costco's warranties are through ST too and do not have to be for TVs purchased at Costco. Has to be within 60 days of purchase.

You should contest it in court, and show the judge your SD badge. you will get at least 10% discount for that ticket.

Got to the store in my county that had the TV left that I wanted, and they were in the process of selling the last one to two random guys. Literally ringing them up. Heartbroken.

No price moves at my local store and did not feel like driving to the next location which had the same pricing as my local store last week.
I picked up the Panasonic 42" TC-P4232C for 165 and it was showing out of stock before I went there.
I got the 2010 version last year for 185.
Was looking to go bigger but I guess I `ll have to try again next week.
