Damn I just bought 3 two gun sets from buy.com on the 6th ugh I'm so mad because I could've used the med packs. It's now dead so I can't order one set to get them oh well. I'm not paying 120 on ebay when I know the tool bought it for $85. I really hate when people buy on here for profit.

As for how it works it's pretty awesome I played with my brother and nephew for about a hour. The accuracy and range is great if your using a laptop. I tried on my desktop in the basement but we occassionally lost connection. I'm sure it would've been better if it wasn't in the basement though all the concrete surrounding the sensor can't be too good.

For those who've received their units. Are the T bases all the same? They are numbered 1,2 in the starter kit and 3,4 in the expansion kit but are they interchangeable? For example can I use 1,2, 1, 2 from 2 starter sets to set up 4 teams?

I bought 2 combo packs (6 T-Blasters, 6 vests, 8 T-bases, 4 Ammo Boxes, 4 Med Packs).
They arrived yetsterday.
I couldn't get the software to install on a Dell Mini 10v with XP, but I'll try again with that later.
It installed fine on a Lenovo X120e with W7. After the install, the software did an update and I found the file it downloaded in my Temp directory (I'll edit this post with the exact path and file name when I'm at that computer.) I backed that up just in case I have to re-install later and the Ubisoft servers no longer have the update files.
4/6 of the t-blasters updated without issues.
2/6 of the t-blasters failed the update (due to a bad battery I think, and they were fresh out of a new package!). The problem is: those 2 don't prompt to update anymore. The battle-tag FAQ has this situation listed and says to download the "forced update tool" which, of course, I can't find anywhere.

I didn't have a chance to play around yetserday, but the software looks good, the hardware all works (as far as my minimal testing) and the servers are still up for updates.

That said, if I don't find the "forced update tool", I'm going to be peeved that I have 2 t-blasters that aren't updated and I won't be able to update them.
The problem is, those guns

Also, if you have problems running the game software, people have posted this tip:

If you end up constantly getting a freeze problem immediately when you start the game software, try renaming the file at C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\BattleTag\Data\Video\ubisoft.bik to something else like ubisoft-RENAMED.bik. Apparently the intro video is high def or something and some systems have trouble playing it, so if you rename it then the computer won't know where it is and won't play it (and crash) on startup.

This might help...I had 1 vest fail over the weekend. It seems that the soldering job inside the connector was done by a 5 year old (the connector is the one you plug into the gun- just remove 2 screws and it opens up). I re-soldered it and it worked fine.

Bought 10 sets of these when it was the Starter Pack on 1saleaday. My buddies bought another 5 sets. Always been a dream of ours to have our own Lasertag system.

Tested it out with 10 players and it was a blast. Doesn't do well in bright direct sunlight though as the shots do not register.

Tips: Make sure you update all the guns and do not unplug, disconnect etc until after the calibration is complete. Otherwise the guns don't register shots correctly and theres no way to force update/reinstall to the guns. I have a method that is reported to work but haven't tested. There is no force update software even though its mentioned in the literature.

UBISOFT has no support for these guns although forums have been cropping up. Private developers & hobbyists are working on all kinds of cool stuff on this site:

http://battletag.freeforums.org

Hopefully it continues to grow so we can add features and get more enjoyment out of the system.
