MX870 and related models are AIO, If you can wait, I think I got mine for $50 or so (actually free after ink rewards) at Staples.

Again, there are SEVERAL models that use the CLI-221 cartridges. Other similar cartridges are used in other printers, but they're cheap also. It's hard to narrow it down to one in order to point to a specific model or deal.

The cartridges regularly show up on FP from Meritline for some reason, but are always cheaper from Amazon.

Here's plenty of thread fodder to chew on. You can see why it's easy to assume anyone searching for cheap ink could have found it by now.

It is enough for Troublestylist to point out that it is not worth buying such printers unless you rarely if ever print, because the cartridges for separate color printers can be had for $1 to 2.5.

By knowing this fact, if you spend any time searching for Canon ink on eBay or Amazon, it is fairly easy to prove. With eBay, search for <you canon printer> and the word ink. You can add a minimum price to filter out the single cartridges, because yours saving start when buying multiple cartridges for example 5, 10 etc. Amazon 3rd-part sellers tend to be cheaper, but usually it has standard amount of ink. Your savings is when you pay less and get more ink per cartridge.

Troublestylist said if you pay $1 you can recycle for $2 but this is not a reason to buy them, since empties on eBay go for 18c each if purchased in quantity.

There are no $1.00 ink cartridges for the Canons that use pg 30-pg 40 ink cartridges. The cheapest ink solution that I have found is to buy ink refill kits from Ebay and refill the cartridges. Eventually, the ink chip will fail after so many refills. I have bought this printer @ $14.99 for the cheap ink. Then reuse the carts for refills. Bestbuy periodically offers rewards deals on Canon ink w/free shipping.

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought when you said "separate color cartridges", you mean separate from the black ink cartridge. I see now. Looks like CLI-221 is the way to go.

The CLI-221 is old printers. The newer ones use CLI-226.
