I only buy my cast iron from Lodge Logic, but's that just me.
Lodge Logic is made in the USA. This one is made who knows where. The iron from cast iron cookware naturally leeches out into the food. It's supposedly a good source of iron for women. I don't want a pot that the iron was derived from the ground excavated behind the battery factory in Huaining, China. But's that just me. .

I have the 6.5, so far I've only cooked with it twice but I loved it both times! if you look up reviews, tramontina dutch ovens are highly rated

Tramontina has a good rep but I'm with the Lodge Logic side. I use my LL dutch oven at least once a week and it's great.
$35 for a 5 qt http://www.amazon.com/Lodge-5-Qua...919&sr=8-4 The lid doubles as a skillet. Lodge Logic also has a lot of other excellent cast iron cookware. |

I bought the 6.5 qt version for $34 2 years ago. I use it more than any other pot. I personally prefer non-coated cast iron, but my wife likes the coating. I definitely prefer the enamel coating to nonstick coatings.

Thanks, I pulled the trigger on a 6.5 quart. I did a quick google and sure enough they are a highly rated brand.
