Police Handcuff GA. Kindergartner for Tantrum

If the teachers have little or no real authority in such a situation, law enforcement will have to pick up the slack. Can't just let the kid run amok. Either give the teachers the necessary authority to deal with the situation, or don't be surprised by these types of stories. Necessary authority, means the teacher able to physically stop said behaviour, and not lose their job or be sued absent gross misbehaviour on the part of the teacher.

Edit: didn't read post #4 prior to posting, agree with Xygonn on that point. Agree with nobama, trouble in school should equal trouble at home.

I agree with that in general (lack of or bad parenting the main problem).

I just wouldn't use police handcuffing a 6 year old an opportunity to promote it.

Also, removing a teacher as a disciplinarian is another problem.

Until I find more cases of obscene behavior by police towards whites ( even though they make up the majority of America ) as compared to minorities.. We can discuss if there is no underlying bias in police mistreatment of minorities compared to whites.

It is a fair question since GA have a real problem with police treatment of minorities as well..

Could I offer a suggestion?

Here's a hint I learned many years ago when my kids were little squirts and there was much discussion about spanking being equal to an invitation for DSHS / CPS to come and visit:

A good harmless pain discipline alternative to spanking is to utilize the StarTrek Mr. Spock "paralysis grip" in the meaty area at the base of the neck. It really gets their attention and it doesn't cause any damage and it doesn't leave any marks.

It's a much better technique than whipping out a paddle in a supermarket and swatting the little tyrant when he/she throws a fit, and it gets the same point across without being a public spectacle. It works well at home also.

The above technique was indispensable for us through the "learning" years.

Edit: This is not a suggestion for teachers or those in the OP's article (except the OP himself obviously could have benefited from it), but just a thought for a few years after the "new arrival" joins the family.
