Just a few tips:
- you have a 60 day window to activate the card or they will close the account.
- you have to make a purchase with the card before your points will show up on your account. They show up on your first statement..

All in all the process takes a while from the time you apply, they send you the card, you use the card, the points show up on your account.

If you aren't approved, you can call these #s to talk to someone and 8 times out of 10, they'll move credit around and approve you:
888-245-0625 connects directly to a personal card credit analyst (I've had the most luck with this #)
800-453-9719 connects directly to a business card credit analyst
888–609–7805 connects to the application status department (call this if you get a message saying you'll get an answer in 30 days)

When should I cancel the card?
You run a higher risk of being blacklisted when you sign up for a new card and then cancel right after you get the bonus points. Don't screw them over and they won't screw you over; banks need to make money too. If you fly Southwest you get 6,000 (Premier) or 3,00 (Plus) miles upon anniversary. If you don't fly much you can cancel the card before the annual fee hits. Just remember that the fee is not waived the 1st year so it will show up on your first statement.
Can I book flights for other people besides myself?
Yes. You can book award flights for anyone with points.
