Hmm I work in cambridge and have been living in the suburbs for cheap $1000 rent for 2 bedroom place and have been looking for a place in boston/cambridge with 1 bedroom for around the same price and no luck. I would like to know where people see rents for $1000 in boston for anything other than a 300ft studio or a really crummy area. Basically in any places even remotely convenient and close to what I wanted it was $2000+ a month for rent. Other things were in really bad areas and when I added up the route it would take me as long to get to work as my place north of boston does. As a general note when you are looking when I was looking anything on craiglist at a decent price generally turned out to be a scam so be very careful.
Anyways I'm a cheapskate... I could afford it, but for the price prefer to live with the bit longer commute, but much cheaper/more space. Last edited by LordB; 04-22-2012 at 10:35 AM.. |

My brother has an 2 bedroom apt in South Boston and hes paying roughly 1200. His parking isn't the best but the apartment is pretty big. Best bet is to go through a realtor to find something.

i searched exclusively on the no fee section of craigslist with my roommate and found a good deal (for boston) recently in the south end. safe & close to the t. same price as above. Last edited by hcazualcc; 04-24-2012 at 10:35 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Thanks for the advice those who replied to me asking where you can find those places. I also talked to a few people and it seems the times I was looking were bad times to be looking because most decently priced places are on the rental schedule to let college kids rent them... so most of what I was seeing were the more expensive places college kids can't afford and thus weren't as much following that rental schedule.
