Program to combine short video clips

Since Google will give me a flood of results which may or may not be what they claim to be, can anyone recommend a free program that will combine short video clips taken with an ipod? Something simple to use

What file type? FLAC, MP4, m4v, mov?

FreeVideoJoiner [freevideojoiner.com] will do what you want but does not support m4v. It's old but it should work.

AoA Video Joiner [aoamedia.com] is more recent and up to date.

Thank you both. My cousin is the one that will be doing it so I'll give her all three suggestions and see which she likes best.

If the file format is MP4 or M4V then it won't read it.

Is this built into Windows Vista or Windows 7? I've never used it so I don't know what it is. I encode videos with MeGUI but don't really mess with short clips that I want to combine which is why I had to ask for help. And according to the post below yours, it's not compatible with mp4 which is what I convert all of my DVDs to (sometimes mkv) so I personally wouldn't have a need for it. I do appreciate the suggestion though

she added a new need for a program. Do any of these programs have the ability to add music to the combined video? I'm guessing a completely different program is needed to do that

Windows Live Essentials: Movie Maker [microsoft.com]

It'll allow you to add audio like a soundtrack to existing video. However, it only takes certain types of supported video so you may need to convert the video to a compatible format.

no fry's and no microcenter near me plus i don't want her shelling out money without trying some free versions first anyway.
