Just saw this in a local HEB ad. Pretty cheap from the normal price for crawfish!

Note that this price requires you to buy the whole sack.

At this price, I'd buy two sacks! What good are crawfish if you don't have a bunch of friends over?

Great price, but HEB crawfish are small compared to other places around the Houston area.

Nothing wrong with that. For my family, being small, I prefer to go to certain special festival (in Houston this weekend there'll be a big one at a Catholic church near Almeda mall). Then I don't have to over-eat these delicious creatures.Big Grin

I just wish I still lived further south where an HEB was close. In N. Dallas now and I will have to drive about 30 minutes to get to the Ft. Worth HEB. I'm contacting people now to see if I can work it out economically. The local spot to get crawfish is Nate's, and theirs is really good but runs around $7/lb boiled and seasoned. I don't mind paying that, but if I can do my own for this cheap then I am having a crawfish boil this weekend! woot

On a side note, does anyone know how long the season is supposed to last this year? I heard it was a slow start and that the rain means the season would go a little longer than normal, but I'm no expert on these things and don't know anyone who lives in or around Louisiana to tell me otherwise.

I am not complete sure how long it will last, but I read a few articles about the amount of crawfish this season. Hopefully it will be a good one. Im having a Crawfish boil in the next two weeks.

The crawfish truck matched HEB's price last weekend since we bought 5 sacks for our annual party. Good size and only 15 dead total of the 5 sacks.

There's no real crawfish season, but they're really scarce from late Aug-Oct. A sack of crawfish @ $1.79 is a deal. Boil and eat.Don't forget the beer and potatoes. If you don't feel like eating them all. Clean the leftover tails and freeze for another meal, like crawfish etoufee or anyother meal that you would use seafood.
