i asked the navy exchange yesterday (in jacksonville fl) if they will price match and they said YES. they will also issue a $30 gift card for the NEX.

So i was looking today and the kindle that was still at my store (Washington DC) still had the kindle at 100+ (150 or whatever it was) was it a weekend thing or is it just the stores not updating their price??

This thing was a major Bait & Switch in my area (Eugene, OR). Employees reported only 2-3 units on the shelf before the sale started and no more stock expected before the it ends.
Lame. I have only seen the Ad online, does it have a "While supplies last" statement on it? If not, don't they have to offer a raincheck? MD |

My Walmart also only had a few. I was told some may be in by the end of the week. I was also told no raincheck because it is not a sale. It is a promotion.
Update. Just saw this on another forum. Someone got the manager of their store to give them 3 rainchecks for the out of stock Kindles. May have to go to management for a raincheck try. Last edited by martyct; 05-01-2012 at 11:04 AM.. Reason: Update |

I do not think there would be an issue with transferring drm free mobi files to the kindle.
I had a Kindle Touch and transferred at least 1 mobi file to it before I returned it and it was fine. You will have to do it via your computer with the USB cable though. Once you register the Kindle with Amazon you will also be able to take out ebooks from your local library if they have an emedia collection so you do not necessarily have to be buying ebooks from Amazon to enjoy reading on it even if you register it with them.

I went to my local walmart in phila on sunday, only to be told that they hadn't gotten any in stock yet. Drove down to wilmington, DE yesterday, and bought one with no problem. No tax and the $30 gift card.

One of the sad things about living in bakersfield, CA is the high illiteracy rates. no one reads. my store has 34 of them binned. With the other three stores also having them easily available. Oh well. more for me

They didn't have the $79 kindle in stock. I worked them a little bit and got the kindle touch for $99 plus the $30 gift card. It took about 30 minutes of haggling to get the gift card.

Was just at a Walmart, they had the nooks and even the kindle fire with a paper that said $30 gift card (along with the kindle and kindle touch). Each had its individual paper and said $30 store card with purchase of kindle touch. Same with the others.

I want to get one for my Mom but her eyesight is failing. I have a 2nd generation Kindle with the keyboard and I can make the text bigger with the Aa button. Does this version of Kindle have the ability to make the font bigger, does anyone know?
