She could gotten what she paid plus the KC had she but waited til the earning period was over. 'Could have' being the operative words here. That option is going to disappear. And I'd imagine Kohls returns w/o receipt incidence is going to rise sharply. Bet they'll crack down like Target does, but it will be very much a negative, particularly for people who receive gifts and because of circumstance get little to nothing back. Doubt those guys will become Kohls converts, don't you? Personally, Target's policy means I buy nothing there anymore for gifting, which in turn puts me in the store hardly ever. People buying gifts tend to be less concerned about bargain shopping. From a finance perspective, they're taking out a top echelon of desired buyers. target's policy is no receipt, no return. you may ask for a gift receipt. but have you ever thrown a kid's birthday party? even WITH someone to record the gifts/giftgivers for thank you notes, and numerous parents standing by to organize/collect gifts and gift bags and trash, gift receipts often disappear. i buy elsewhere. rotten for a kid to be stuck with duplicate or otherwise non-fitting present. and you know you're flagged if when you return with no receipt, you aren't given merchandise credit but have to wait for a check from corporate. i found this out after i had the audacity to request a couple returns w/o recipts after i figured out that they were improperly discounting the return price on kohls cares merchandise. i had the receipts. had them with me. bought on my kohls card. but if you don't already know, any order discount is applied to the return price of kohls cares merchandise - even though that discount was not applied when you bought it. you get less than what you paid. only way to get around it is to return w/o receipt. looks like with the way kohls is heading, i'll be hitting tj maxx a lot more often again. probably good for me. net/net i ended up spending more at kohls, anyway. |

Seriously though I'm in the same boat with you on Target. I give a lot of gifts to different people and my gift giving from T and Walmart and Kmart is a big fat -0- now sine their return policy sucks and they look at you like you have 3 heads when you give them one. So most of my gifts are given from Kohl's and if the policy changes then more than likely I'll switch back to Macy's or Dillards or some place that does the little stickers on the items for returns. That way I don't have to worry about issues with the item being returned and whatnot. Speaking of that... why isn't Kohl's just switching to a system like that and putting any debate to rest over what was purchased and on what date and how much is due back on return. It would have solved the problem and not made all us loyal Kohl's shoppers heads spin. I also predict that Kohl's will quit showing so much in sales if the KC policy changes. That's just my 2c though but I along with some other friends think we saw the "Big Picture" In their KC deals and their expansion when other stores are striving to regroup and stay open. That's just my 2c. |

policy changes?
Are these policy changes about kc/returns official? This is the first I am hearing of them. Does this mean that if we return something we bought that earned kc we will now lose it....even if we take merchandise credit? When is all of this going into effect? I guess toooo many people abused their policy so now they have to change it.....
