Amazon Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus $49.99 with new 2yr contract plus double your data

I think it makes sense why it's this low at this point, so many big contenders coming out within the next few weeks. Especially for the month of May where the Samsung Galaxy S3 is being announced on the 3rd. I was really pumped for the Galaxy Nexus, but the closer I got to it's release I realized my phone (droid x) was working fine and I would wait it out until my phone either got lost or broke. Well, low and behold here I am with a phone, million dead pixels, big huge black marks on the screen, waiting endlessly for the damn S3 to come out

Same here, except my DX is in rather good shape.

My fear however, is that Verizon will pass on the Galaxy 3 for some lame or unexplained reason.

Why when I go to buy this does it make me chose between 1,000 text messages or nothing? I'm almost positive I have unlimited text messaging right now... is ordering this off Amazon going to cancel that service? That seems stupid... what am I missing?

How does Amazon charge tax? Is it dependent on state?

I'm in NY. I'm just wondering if they would tax base on retail price or the sale price?

I just upgraded 3 days ago. Verizon discounted my phone down to $169... after tax, came out to $~186.

Not even sure if its worth the return (EVEN if I manage to get them to waive my restock fee).

Please add that this is for new line of service only in your title.

I've got this device, and while it's great on power and responsiveness, I regret buying it, especially at launch. The current radio for LTE has issues. Google has hundreds of results of people complaining. The LTE signal will just die, and it will cause the entire handset to sit in searching for signal. No LTE, No 3G signal, everything will drop out. Verizon has acknowledged there is a problem but the only solution they have is to keep swapping out handsets until one works.

lol - exactly my experience, it just keeps hunting for signal, very lame. luckily I ahd returned mine within first 2 weeks

Even for those with renewals. This is a good deal. Unless you want to wait for newer phones which likely won't be any spectacular. You can argue the Droid fighter, but nothing eye popping or jawdropping.

I kept mine too long and I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of the mail in return for it. It's got the insurance on it so if it gets too bad, I'll just return it using that. If I'm going to fight Verizon over it I'd be arguing for a different device, and not hoping I get one that passed Samsung's QC. There are reports of screen issues with these too. Washed out and wrong color contrast (images look brown and hazy). It looks good on paper, but since they can't seem to put the darn things together properly it just makes for an angry user base.

You think so? The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be a quadcore, 1080p, awesomoso phone. Need I say more?

Interesting. Recently upgraded from a D2 to the Rezound. While I would have been tempted to consider still swapping it for this deal a week ago..the research done on both phones makes the Rezound far superior, especially after reading about so many radio issues with the Nexuses The signal on this baby has been rock solid. Even w the S3 coming out (if it even comes to VZW) I doubt I will be jealous. My only gripe would be that the Rezound is the same weight as my D2 (relatively heavy), the Nexus and possibly S3 have that going for it. However, I AM MAN and man needs solid phone.

Having said all that..still a solid deal for those looking to upgrade.

I recently convinced myself to hold off on my cell upgrade and save money for a few months, as a bonus 'they' lower the price on my desired phone! For those who haven't checked, this price drop is across the board Wirefly.com (149.99), Costco (199.00 + free extended battery and ext. battery cover after mail-in rebate).
Also, does a decrease in Nexus Galaxy at this time mean the S3 won't be coming to Verizon next monthish? Ever?
