Home Depot - BLACK & DECKER 36-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless String Trimmer with Free 2nd Battery $169

I went in and they still had lots of coupons hanging up but the batteries were sold out. Still 2 trimmers in stock though. The manager gave me $50 off the $169 price, I tried for $89 off but it wouldnt happen. Still think its a good deal for $119. Seems like most people never need both batteries for the work they are doing anyway. I only have some trees and mailbox and things to trim under. Thanks for posting

Pretty happy with this trimmer so far. More than enough power for the 0.65 type line. I would not want to cut heavy brush on an empty lot or along a creek or something like that with it but for the average suburban homeowner this thing is overkill. Extra battery is a huge deal if they start adding useful tools to this lineup.

Also has a 3 yr warranty on everything including the battery, which is long enough to be reasonable. Most of my concern with previous items revolved around the crap shoot that is ni-cad batteries. No way I wanted to buy something that the battery was only good for one season, and most of the old units had short battery warranties for that very reason. Newer lithiums seem much better in this respect, and the warranties are aligning with that.

i went to home depot and they wouldnt give me the free battery but Lowes was happy to price match!

so how is the actual trimmer? vs a 18v?

The trimmer itself is great. It has plenty of power, an edger guide, and a rotating head to facilitate edging all in a lightweight package. While it is may not be as powerful as a larger gas trimmer, I have not found it to be underpowered at all for anything I have used it for in the yard (e.g. edging, trimming, and whacking ivy).

would you (or anyone) grab me a coupon ???? I JUST bought this trimmer from lowes.. they won't pricematch internet ads, but they will accept HD coupons..

oh, and so far I really like this trimmer. One battery is definitely not enough for my yard... 2 should be perfect

I spoke to a HD rep, and they said that they couldn't view specials that are not offered anymore. But I have been waiting for 2 weeks for this to come back in stock. So, how do I get this coupon you refer to?
