They gave me my money back? Now what? LONG read
Purchased a high dollar item "X" listed on this forum from a retailer on sale and was to save an additional 10% using a certain credit card. Bought item "X" on line and picked it up at the store. Credit card later showed the transaction.
Days later I made another on line purchase (item "Z") and noticed that the item "X" was listed as "awaiting pickup" on the retailer web site.
When in to pick up my 2nd order and the guy said, "Ok you are here to pick up one item "Z" and a "X"". I told him that I already pickup "X" and didn't want another. Asked him what I had to do to cancel the awaiting item "X". He said that I would have to bring in my receipt for item "X" and go to that department to have "X" cleared.
Days later I came in with the receipt for "X" and the guy in the department basically did a return. I figured that is what he had to do to clear the additional "X" from awaiting pickup.
Later I placed another on line order (#3) and when I went to pick it up 3 dudes took me in the back and explained that I needed to give them my credit card so they could charge me for "X". I told them that I had already been charged for "X" and wasn't going to allow them to charge me again until I could verify what was going on. Seems my pick up of item "X" was never recorded on their records as being picked up. That is why a 2nd "X" appeared as awaiting pick up. So when they gave me a credit for #2 "X" it zeroed out the charge for the original "X". (now I understood what happen).
Meanwhile my credit card showed a credit for item "X".
So. They refunded the purchase price of my item "X". Where do I stand???
Yes I owe them $$$$ but the time for the 10% savings for using the credit card has expired so I will be out some money if I pay them the full cost of "X".
Do I pay them and lose $$$?
Do I forget about it and enjoy my no cost "X"?
HELP!

That is hilarious! I can see management as thinking their system/store is SO infallible that they can't wrap their mind around your scenario. Glad it worked out in your favor.

What state do you live in? I know here in California we have a lot of laws protecting the consumer on purchases (practically once it gets to my door or I leave the store after paying it's mine etc.) .
