I would like to get this for my old parent as 27" is better than a 17" laptop right now on their laptop. I would prefer with x1200 though. My RIG:
EVGA X58 E758 Motherboard (new $207.99) Intel i7 950 @ 3.06 ghz (used $309) XFX HD 5750 (new $90) Dell 3008WFP (used $790.23) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (2GBx6=12GB) (new $320) OCZ 700w PSU (new $46.49) OCZ Agility 2 60gb (new $90) | ONE 2TB($125) | SEVEN 1.5TB Lian Li PC-K62 case (new $97.95 $18.99 shipping) I have a dream. Same case here except for the IPS panels. It's a decent monitor. I don't have any complaints about it. But I wished the blacks were reproduced better. My other monitor is an Asus 23" one and while not an IPS panel has better blacks than this one. Again I'm not disappointed by it but if I had a do over I'd go for something else. Care to share what your color settings are? I'm having a tough time keeping it at one setting. I've set it contrast 60 and brightness 24 along with colors at 6500K Standard mode. Though have to keep switching it between game and standard mode quite often. |

got this on the last go around. for the original price i wouldnt have even thought about it, but for this price its a beast. love being able to use all of the hookup's and switch between DVI/HDMI/VGA since I have the PS3 on the HDMI and the laptop on the DVI using a DVI to HDMI plug.
The only thing i dont like is the fact that if the laptop is connected in dual screen mode (using DVI), i actually have to manually go into display settings and turn it off (win 7) before the Planar will let me switch to HDMI and get a picture. Kinda weird since my 2005 westinghouse 22 doesnt care. Oh well, for the price its a small issue and in the end it may just be my issue. |

I have a Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW - 24" w/ USB hub, 9-in-1 card reader Do you think this 27 inch is a better monitor?

I have one of these and it's awesome!
Just as an anecdote, when I received mine it had one dead pixel, and the company was willing to do a warranty replacement for the one dead pixel. The sent me a new monitor with a pre-paid label for the old one and everything worked great. I like supporting companies that care about their customers, and Planar seems to from my experience. |

Buyer beware - This is only 1920x1080. It will work well as a TV, but I would avoid getting anything like this as a computer monitor. This is the same resolution that 22" monitors use, you're basically just paying for larger pixels. If you care at all bout the crispness and clarity of your text and images, I would avoid this (assuming you're sitting within a few feet of the monitor).
