Barebone system mainly for Photo editing/general browsing?
HiI was looking at a couple of deals of barebone systems.. I was wondering if I can get one for my photo editing (mainly Photoshop & LR).. Not sure of these: 1. Are they powerful enough to run CS3/LR2 without waiting for too much time? 2. I am looking at small sized barebones - as big as a med sized USPS priority box? 3. I do not mind adding 8-12GB of RAM for it to be fast. The prob is - iMac (21.5") - none of them come with a 1GB dedicated graphics card - for the money I spend on them. iMac (27") are just too expensive for me at the moment. Mac Mini - doesn't come with dedicated graphics card either - not sure if I can upgrade to 8GB-12GB cheaply and is costly too.. So a repalcement to Mac Mini with decently powerful specs.. - size should be small.. that is the main thing.. Don't want a big piece of machine.. Appreciate if you guys can throw me any ideas you have.. Do not go to SD...

build it yourself? or does it have to be a mac?

Mac being better for graphic design (Photoshop and the like) is a myth. Just about any new computer will work for you. I have a 5 year old Dell laptop that runs CS5 like a champ.

I know its a myth. I want a "big" screen and so not want to go for a Laptop. I was interested in more like replacements for mac mini's but may be a little bigger in size.. but certainly smaller than slim towers..
