btw I picked it up for $12.00 back in january 2012.

Of course it had an added promo coupon back then.

Good with fat and sugar but horrible straight.

I bought this for the same price on Apr 4th. Looks like it's about as cheap as it can be [thetracktor.com] unless you are lucky enough to apply a coupon. BTW: Great stuff!

It is very good for espressos. Definitely not the best even compared to other Lavazza coffees but without any doubt a good one for daily consumption. The Lavazza Caffe Espreso is much better than this one but I have both and like them both.
The one in black cans is very similar to my own at-home roasts, color ans flavor wise that is why I have not roasted for a long time. Lavazza is a good brand at nice price, IMHO.

most lavazzas are 100% arabica! higher grade bean !

FWIW, this works well in a French press too.

Agreed-- a nice roast. I have it several times a week from a stove-top espresso maker and it's quite good once you add a bit of milk & sugar, or some kind of sweetened non-dairy creamer.

This stuff is good but may I suggest if you like this type of coffee to try Cafe Bustello. It's not on Amazon right now for cheap but you can often get it from your super markets. Same type of coffee (finely ground espresso) but 100% arabica and very reasonably priced.

I can attest this is now my daily driver at work (where I have no ability to ground my beans, etc) and its pretty fabulous even for drip. Its very strong so you can use less than normal as well, as its ground super fine espresso style.

I do drink it straight despite what the first reply said. Its not the world's best but for this price is somewhere between fresh ground and roasted java from your local primo shop and starbucks breakfast blend. That is, this stuff is worth about $15/lb if you were to buy it at yoru grocer. Definitely a slickdeal.
