Considering the amount of money about, the Bay Area is a dump. The houses don't look special or particularly expensive. A lot of tourists would visit my neighborhood. More than one would ask me if it was safe at night. I would give a scrunched up nod and say, you'll be OK. The humor of this will hit after these next couple of sentences. Once, one of the tourists said to his wife, "These houses are probably expensive. They might cost $500,000". He was off by a zero. The thing is, they do not look like million dollar houses. The $90-$105K that google is paying is not that much money in the bay. I'd consider that solidly middle class. Cops make that. Firemen make that. Bus drivers make that. With a mortgage, kids, etc, etc, friends I know pulling down $200-$250K a year between them are barely squeaking by. Last edited by travfar; 05-20-2012 at 07:16 PM.. |

Rumble, young man, rumble. These are interesting times we live in. Punctuation is key. Fruit is nature's candy.

Yet still high enough. Here's some current listings. Pushing $4M for a 4 bedroom. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/r...48428.html Pushing $2M for a 2 bedroom. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/r...61176.html Or $1.5M for a 2 bd fixer upper flat. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/r...58652.html Last edited by travfar; 05-22-2012 at 12:17 AM.. |

""These houses are probably expensive. They might cost $500,000". He was off by a zero. The thing is, they do not look like million dollar houses." As I said. 7 figures versus 6. Oh, you also claim that the mean price is $1.5. You forgot to mention that most of the housing in that neighborhood are flats AKA apts. The cheap $1M apts drag down the average. Kids starting out need to live somewhere. Last edited by travfar; 05-23-2012 at 08:45 AM.. |

But if you must. Here are some $5M houses in the area. As I showed before, it's generally $1M per BD. http://zephyrsf.com/marina/2415-bay-st http://zephyrsf.com/cow-hollow/2555-union-st I await further moaning. |
