the new OCZ Vertex 4 has the same controller as the M4, doesn't it? That should greatly improve the reliability

This drive used the same Marvell 9174 as the Crucial M4, but different firmware and NAND.

Wow great deal for a Marvell drive
 . Too bad I already picked up a M4 the other day... although might pick this one up for my sister's laptop...

Nice. I've always liked Plextor. They made great CD-R drives back when those were a big deal.

plextor is a very solid drive. read anandtech for it.
5 year is extremely useful. just had a OCZ went sudden death on me last night. |

So far, all tracking record shows sandforce controller has the worst reliability record but has the faster performance than any controllers based on Marvell or Samsung's. |

This or the Vertex 4?
Both are technically Marvell controllers (the OCZ one is a Marvell controller with custom Indilinx firmware). Both are similar in terms of speed, both have 5 year warranty...both even cost about the same with the deals going on right now... Last edited by myang322; 04-18-2012 at 08:04 PM.. |
